Which phones & software are supported?

Most well-known phone brands and types, running on Android, iOS or Windows Phone, are supported. An important factor is on which software your phone is running. The supported mobile operating systems are:

 

Android 2.3.3 up to 5.0.

iOS 7, 8 and 9.

Windows Phone 7, 8 and 8.1.

 

The software requirements for your computer are:

 

Windows PC 7, 8, 8.1 or 10.

Mac OS X: 10.6, 10.7, 10.8, 10.9, 10.10 or 10.11.

 

If you’re having doubts about the support of your devices, please feel free to contact us on support@swopey.com so we can verify this for you. In order to see if your phones will be detected by our application you may download the app for free and attach your phones before requesting an official Swopey license.

Why can’t I open Swopey on my Windows PC?

  • Make sure you are running the Swopey App on one of the supported Windows versions: Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1 or Windows 10.
  • If you did install Swopey on one of these versions you may want to try to uninstall Swopey and re-install it again.
  • Be certain that you’re connected with the internet.

Why can’t I open Swopey on my Mac?

  • Make sure you are running the Swopey App on one of the supported Mac OS X versions: 10. 6 up to 10.11.
  • Be certain that you’re connected with the internet.
  • If you did install Swopey on one of these versions you may encounter some security limitations on your Mac for the installation of third party apps. Take a look at the images for more information.

My Android Phone is not detected?

Windows PC & Mac

  • A possible cause may be that USB Debugging mode is switched off. In the App we have tutorials integrated which you can follow step by step. However if these tutorials are not clear enough you may try to follow the steps mentioned in this FAQ under the question ’How do I activate USB Debugging on my Android device’.
  • Reconnect your device by unplugging the USB cable from your computer.
  • Restart the Swopey application on your computer.
  • Restart your Android Phone.

 

Only for Windows PC users
Phones connected on a Windows PC require USB drivers. For some major brands Swopey already provides these drivers. You will notice this after attaching your device with the use of your USB cable. In the scenario where we are not yet able to provide you with the correct drivers you need to download and install these USB drivers yourself. Often you can find these drivers by visiting the support page on the website of the phone manufacturer.

My iPhone is not detected?

  • Reconnect your device by unplugging the USB cable from your computer.
  • Restart the Swopey application on your computer.
  • Restart your iPhone.

My Windows Phone is not detected?

  • Restart your Windows Phone.
  • Reconnect your device by unplugging the USB cable from your computer.
  • Restart the Swopey application on your computer.

How are the required USB Drivers installed on my Windows PC?

If your phones require USB drivers and when Swopey is able to provide these drivers directly from our server, you will be confronted with the following steps:

 

  1. Downloading the USB drivers. This is automatically done by the Swopey App.
  2. The user has to confirm that Swopey is allowed to install the required drivers. This can be done by pressing Yes as shown in the image.
  3. Installation of the USB drivers. This is automatically done by the Swopey App.

 

Please be aware that the required time depends on your hardware speed, internet speed, driver sizes etc. Swopey will inform you when each step is completed.

Why is it required to activate USB Debugging on Android devices?

This is you confirming that your computer and therefore Swopey may set up a communication between your hardware. This is required to transfer your data from one phone to another.

How do I activate USB Debugging on my Android device?

The location of the USB Debugging mode is almost similar on each Android device. Some minor details can influence the position and the process on how to activate USB Debugging mode. It can be different per mobile operating system version and per phone brand. Swopey provides an integrated animated tutorial in the Swopey App on how to activate this. This current tutorial shows the steps for Android 4.2 and up. If these tutorials are not sufficient you may want to take a look at the instructions and images shown below.

Android 4.2 and up

Apps > Settings > About (Phone) > Tap 7 times on Build Number* > Go back to Settings > Developer Options > Activate USB Debugging mode > Make sure the developers options is activated in the upper right corner. > Allow USB debugging? Enable Always allow from this computer and press on OK.

*Some brands require you to press on the tab Software Information first. With HTC additionally press on the tab More in order to see the tab Build Number.

Why is it required to turn off iCloud on my iPhone?

In regard to the privacy of the user, Swopey only has access to data stored on the device its memory. So that means when the user wants to copy data with an iPhone we need to be sure that the data is only stored locally.

 

How do I turn off iCloud on my iPhone?

Please follow the following steps in order to sign out from iCloud:

Settings > iCloud > Sign Out > Sign Out > Keep on my iPhone > fill in your personal password of your Apple ID > Turn Off
